Dr Laura Brady recently joined Fighting Blindness as Research Officer. In her current role Laura works closely with Fighting Blindness scientists, providing scientific and administrative support for all research activities of the organisation. Her role also includes providing support to the Target 5000 initiative which is focused on the genetic characterisation of the estimated 5,000 people in Ireland who have an inherited retinal disease. Laura completed a B.A. Mod in Biochemistry with honours from Trinity College Dublin, before being awarded her Ph.D. at the same institute. Prior to Fighting Blindness, Laura held a postdoctoral position in cancer research at the Trinity Biomedical Science Institute followed by a position as an academic officer with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
